英文 文意選填 ，往往是大考失分的地方，因為一次錯就至少錯兩題。
而這篇文章，將簡單分享一下我自己的答題策略。

做文意選填，我個人認為有幾個關鍵。

1. 判斷選項詞性。
2. 直接看空格的句子，其他跳掉。
3. 列出每一個可能的選項。
4. 找出關鍵介係詞或常見搭配用法。
5. 選項剩2-3個的時候再認真的看句子意思。
6. 把可能選項中，用過的字刪掉。
7. 不斷重複4-5的過程，即可把題目解完。
   假使真的逼不得已，再去看空格前或後一個句子了解文意。

為了方便大家理解，以下直接用107學測英文的文意選填做示範(如下圖，圖源為大考中心)。

先來判斷每一個選項的可能詞性。

(A) account，可能為名詞，或複數主詞後動詞。
(B) appeared，動詞變化。
(C) competing，形容詞。
(D) contained，動詞變化。
(E) replaced，動詞變化。
(F) secret，形容詞或名詞。
(G) successful，形容詞。
(H) tastes，名詞，或單數主詞後動詞。
(I) traces，名詞，或單數主詞後動詞。
(J) treats，名詞，或單數主詞後動詞。

接著，直接看空格所接句子。

There are several   31  stories about the origin of the fortune cookie.

• 31格位在stories前，可能詞性為形容詞或動詞變化型，故B,C,D,E,F,G為可能選項。

One of these stories  32  the cookie’s origin back to 13th-and 14th-century China, which was then occupied by the Mongols.

• 32格位在兩名詞中間，故應為動詞，可能選項為B,D,E,I,J。
• 而在空格後端可發現關鍵介係詞back to，更可以看到13th- and 14th-century關鍵時間，而上述五個可能選項中，僅有I有此用法，故此題答案為I。

According to the legend, notes of  33  plans for a revolution to overthrow the Mongols were hidden in mooncakes that would ordinarily have been stuffed with sweet bean paste.

• 33格位於of後plans前，可能詞性為形容詞或動詞變化型，故B,C,D,E,F,G為可能選項。

The revolution turned out to be  34  and eventually led to the formation of the Ming Dynasty.

• 34為be動詞後，應為形容詞、動詞變化型或名詞，所有選項皆有可能。

This story may sound highly credible, but there seems to be no solid evidence that it inspired the creation of the  35  we know of today as fortune cookies.

• 35格後面接as fortune cookies，故應為複數名詞，可能選項有H,J。
• 判斷文意，cookies屬於點心的一種，所以答案選(J) treats(點心)。

Another  36  claims that David Jung, a Chinese immigrant living in Los Angeles, created the fortune cookie in 1918.

• 36格應為名詞，扣掉用過的選項後，可能選項有A ,F, H。
• 又因開頭為another，故必為單數名詞。
• 剩下A,F，快速看一下文意，可以發現A會合適許多。

Each cookie  37  a strip of paper inside with an inspirational Bible quotation on it.

• 37格位兩名詞間，故為動詞，扣掉使用過的選項，可能選項剩B,D,E,H,J。

However, the more generally accepted story is that the fortune cookie first  38  in either 1907 or 1914 in San Francisco, created by a Japanese immigrant, Makoto Hagiwara.

• 38應為動詞，可能選項剩B,D,E,H。
• 然後，可以發現空格不遠處有1907和1914年出現。
• 可以知道這格應選(B) appeared(出現)才對。

The fortune cookie was based on a Japanese snack, but Hagiwara sweetened the recipe to appeal to American 39 .

• 39應為名詞，且為複數名詞或不可數名詞。
• 扣掉用過的選項，可能選項只有H。
• 故直接選(H) tastes(味道/口味)。

Within a few years, Chinese restaurant owners in San Francisco had copied the recipe and  40  the thank-you notes with fortune notes.

• 40為and後，and為對等連接詞，可以知道40格和前面的copied詞性對等，故知40定為動詞的過去分詞，扣掉用過的，可能選項為只剩D,E，判斷文意。
• 空格前有copied，空格後又有with，可以猜測在這裡(E)replaced(代替)較D好很多，答案選E。

至此，我在最小了解文意的情況下，已經解出32、35、36、38、39、40，十題文意選題，解決了六題，超過一半。

刪掉用過的A,B,E,H,I,J後，可以發現37格只剩下選項(D) contained包含。
把該刪的都刪了，最後發現31,33,34的可能選項都完全一樣，皆為C,F,G。
這個時候沒辦法了，只能看文意。

• 31題比較難判斷，所以直接跳到33題，可以發現33題放(F) secret(秘密)最好。
• 接著判斷34題，revolution(革命)應該是要successful(成功的)，故這題選(G) successful(成功的)。
• 至此，文意選填完成了9個選項，所以31答案應該為(C) competing。

看到了這裡，你其實不難發現，我其實真正瞭解文意的時間並不多，甚至於，我根本沒有完全看完整篇文章。
但，即使是這樣，我還是可以解完所有的題目。

而我之所以能做到這樣的關鍵在於:詞性。

這也就是為什麼之前在 學測英文準備方法、Level單字介紹 中不斷強調單字重要性的原因。
當然啦，你在解題時未必要像這篇一樣全部用詞性解，這樣的方式不一定是每個人都能習慣的。
不過，在使用文意解題之餘，你不妨可以試著搭配這樣的方式，或許能有意想不到的效果。
